General Description
Clear colorless liquid with a petroleum characteristic odour, soluble in alcohol, ether and chloroform, and insoluble in water. Heptane is a derivative of hydrocarbons obtained by fractional distillation of petroleum, whose molecule consists of seven carbon atoms.
Applications: It is used in the extraction of essences, oils and fats and in the manufacture of adhesives, solvent for paints and preparation of thinners.
