A clear colorless volatile liquid having a chloroform-like odor. Denser than water and is slightly soluble in water. Noncombustible.

It is mainly used as a solvent to remove grease from metal parts, although it is also an ingredient in adhesives, paint removal liquids and to correct typing and stain removal.
